MileSwipe Support
Automatic mileage, sorted with a swipe
Need help? Email dabh@snizyx.com. Include your iOS version and, if a drive was missed or split, roughly when it happened. The Detection log under Settings › Debug (in test builds) is the fastest way to diagnose detection.
How detection works
While your car is parked, MileSwipe only uses low-power system services to notice when you leave. Once you are moving, it records the trip until you have been still for a few minutes, then saves the drive and shows a card. Swipe right for Business, left for Personal, or answer from the lock-screen notification.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does it need "Always" location?
- Drives are detected while the app is closed. iOS first asks for "While Using", then offers "Always" a few days later; please accept it, and keep Precise Location on.
- A drive was missed.
- Check Settings in the app: the status card at the top of the Inbox says whether detection is paused and why. Drives shorter than the minimum distance (0.5 mi by default) are discarded; lower it under Settings › Detection. Swiping the app away in the app switcher also stops detection until the next launch.
- A drive was split in two by a stop.
- Open the second leg and choose Merge with previous drive. Stops shorter than ten minutes are merged automatically.
- The start point looks off.
- The first few hundred meters are estimated from where the car was parked, which the card marks as "Start estimated". Open the drive to adjust it.
- How are deductions calculated?
- Miles per purpose times the IRS standard mileage rate in effect on each date, including mid-year changes. You can override rates under Settings › Mileage rates. The figures are estimates for your records, not tax advice.
- Where is my data?
- On your phone, and in your own iCloud account if you turn on sync. Export everything as CSV and JSON, or delete everything, from Settings. See the privacy policy.
